I’ve been trying to find my summer uniform for a while now… years actually. However, fashion isn’t something that comes naturally to everyone, me included. I have found that I like an easy approach. This means finding a few pieces I really love and creating a capsule wardrobe of sorts that I can mix and match.
This year, I have finally taken my wardrobe seriously. I have had a signature style for a while, which is more tight fitting, waist faltering fits. For the summer I like to keep my clothes a bit looser and short so I don’t suffocate in the heat. These pieces fit this description pretty well and I am so happy to share them.
So far, I’ve discovered the power of a good neckline. Square neck and sweetheart necks have been my favorite for a while. This Amazon try-on haul included some pieces featuring a square neckline and a sweetheart top. I also included a couple of skirts that you can mix and match and some sandals that can go great.
The Dress
When I first tried on this dress I loved it. It was breathable, cute, and giving sexy. I think this can be dressed up or down, but it is still casual enough for everyday wear. I ordered this in a size small. I am 5’5, 130 pounds.
I had to get it in a second color as soon as I tried it on. This dress will definitely be a part of my summer uniform.
I can see myself throwing it on when I want something super casual, but also like I put some effort into my appearance.
Never underestimate the power of a cute dress. My goal is to have so many cute pieces, that I won’t ever be “dressed down.” It’s hard to dress down when all your pieces have a bit of pizzazz! I paired these dresses with these cute braided sandal heels.
Bodysuit
The bodysuit is one of my new favorites. Unfortunately, after I wore it I spilled oil on it and now it has a stain! I will just have to hide it or order it again because it’s so cute and soft.
I will be ordering it in more colors soon. I like to pair my bodysuits with a nice mini skirt or even some flared yoga pants.
Sweetheart(ish) neckline top
The shirt is not exactly a sweetheart neck, it’s more of a curved scoop neck .
I paired it with a red tweed mini-skirt that worked for a warm day. I also think it will go well with Tweed A line skirt or something similar. It can also be paired with jeans for an even more casual look.
I donated these jeans after this photo because I truly can’t stand the feel of jeans on my skin. Skirts 4 Life, and yes even in the winter.
Satin Skirts
The blue skirt was my favorite and I loved the texture and the color. I don’t have any pictures of me in it, but I have been paring it with bodysuits and crop tops. A satin tank top will also go great with a skirt like this.
I also ordered a different brand in pink.
Final thoughts
Once I find something I like, I’ll order it in every color. I am on the hunt for cute and affordable staple pieces for my wardrobe.
